CATHOLIC DIOCESE of PORT PIRIE
CATHOLIC DIOCESE of PORT PIRIE
Diocese of Port Pirie was established in 1887 and dedicated to the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary. After canonisation of Mary MacKillop our Diocese was dedicated also to her.
Annually, on the feast of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary (8 December), we want to refresh our Diocesan dedication and encourage individuals to dedicate themself and their family.
REDEDICATION – Community
Immaculate Mary, Mother of God and our Mother!
At the foundation day of our diocese, you were chosen to be our Mother as the Patroness of our families and of us all in the diocese of Port Pirie. Today, we stand before you with a tribute of love, affection and gratitude. We rededicate ourselves, our families and our Diocese to you, our Mother who was conceived without original sin.
Remember, Loving Mother, the “Yes” you responded to the angel’s declaration to conceive God’s only begotten Son through the power of the Holy Spirit and through your loving obedience, “the Word-became-Flesh” and dwells amongst us. Dear Mother, you have taught us to love and sacrifice unconditionally as you accompanied your Son, Jesus Christ to the point of standing beneath the Cross. Hear our prayers as we entrust and rededicate our Diocese into your hands.
We pledge to Your Son, our Saviour, to be faithful to His teaching and law, to share His Gospel, to actively participate in the life of the Church, and to spread His Kingdom.
Our Lady and our Mother! We entrust ourselves and all members of our community into your motherly care. Look after our families and protect the sanctity of all life, beginning with the weakest ones, from young to old, from the unborn to the sick, the disabled and the elderly. Inspire our parishes with your love, strengthen and enlighten our clergy and religious.
Be the light to those who drifted away from your Son and touch their souls with the tenderness of Your Immaculate Heart.
May the example of the Saint Mary MacKillop who never saw a need without doing something about it, direct the life and nurturing of the children in our families.
Queen of the world! Look with a caring eye on all our worries and troubles. Give everyone a lasting peace based on love, justice and trust.
Accept our sacrifices and our commitment, Mother of God and our Mother. Embrace everyone to Your Immaculate Heart and unite us forever with Christ and His Holy Kingdom.
Amen
Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception, pray for us.
St Mary of the Cross MacKillop, pray for us.
