Faith Friends as Missionary Disciples are a regularly practising Catholic members of the Parish community who are ready to visit the family of the child who is receiving the Sacrament, pray with them and lead the reflection/discussion about life in the local parish community.
—————— Dear Faith Friends, You are a vital part of our Sacramental Program as you are able to help establish the candidate’s prayer life especially in a home setting. You may like to begin by meeting regularly at your local church or even take the opportunity to introduce Children’s Liturgy at Sunday Mass. This will give Faith Friends some quality contact time with candidates and perhaps their parents as well. This is a time for Faith Friends to introduce themselves and let the candidates get to know you better. At the end of each guided prayer session, the Faith Friend may arrange to meet again and even ask if families would like to meet next time for family prayer at home.
If these sessions are conducted as a Children’s Liturgy during Mass, it will need to be brief as you would aim to be completed by the end of the Priest’s homily. It will be a nice way to acknowledge the families at the beginning before they leave for Children’s Liturgy with a blessing, and then to welcome the children back into the congregation by bringing up the offertory.
